Homemakers or Companions

Companion services (also known as Homemaker or PCA I services) are non-medical and non “hands-on” services that can assist with many common household tasks, as well as provide companionship for an individual. Companions are not required to be certified by the NYS Department of Health, although ElderChoice does perform thorough background checks and extensive training for all of our staff.

Companion Services can include task such as:

• Light housekeeping
• Other household chores such as washing clothes and dishes
• Running errands such as grocery shopping
• Accompanying to appointments and community outings
• Preparing meals
• Socialization and entertainment
• Communicating with family members and other care team professionals
